2007 - present:
Bald Tieman, founder of Euro-Rigging, is retiring but remains active as a senior consultant for various projects and also as a specialist source of information for the junior engineers. Wim Kattouw is appointed as technical director, as successor of Bald.
The team is reinforced with two new engineers. A lot of attention is given to further education and training to gain speciliast knowhow. The year 2007 is a Top Year.
2001 - 2006:
The organization of Euro-Rigging is restructured, Ton Raemakers named as new managing director, Bald Tieman concentrates on consultancy and technical management as technical director. 16 engineers are involved in various consultancy and engineering projects for clients worldwide. Euro-Rigging engineers became more and more involved in projects related to the heavy mechanical engineering, like for the dredging industry and the civil construction industry. Also many activities in the process industry during the preparation and execution of maintenance stops and revamps. The crane business is very busy with the design of boom and jib assemblies, CE marking and the upgrade of existing equipment.
Activities relating to the offshore industry are also becoming more important. In addition to the design of heavy offshore equipment, Euro-Rigging is increasingly in demand for consultancy work for non-routine lifting operations offshore. A specially trained team is ready to carry out work offshore and to develop methods and techniques for the movement of equipment on board a platform without needing to make use of platform cranes or crane ships. These activities resulted in a service contract with A(mec)J(acobs)S(tork).
1991 - 2000:
Euro-Rigging is highly involved in the PER + project at SHELL Pernis. The engineering team has grown to 14 engineers and has become one of the major engineering and consultancy firms for lifting and transportation in Europe. Euro-Rigging is the lifting and transport consultant for the relocation of the Needle Coker plant from SHELL Moerdijk to Argentina, the relocation of the Mobil Wörth refinery and the upgrade of blast furnaces 6 and 7 at the Hoogovens, IJmuiden.
In 1995 part of the activities from ALPHA engineering, a specialist in vehicle engineering, were taken over. This resulted in engineering for the development of coaches SBG220, TB2600 and SB120, the design of bogies for rail equipment and the engineering for roller coaster equipment. But we also developed piling equipment on basis of a standard JCB 220 excavator or based on the Sennebogen 6100 and we developed the Kobelco BM-700 C crawler crane.
Often Euro-Rigging is involved in the development of boom and jib systems for mobile cranes, like the Kobelco 7080 and the R&B CH 135. For this specialist engineering we developed our own design software.
1980 - 1990:
Euro-Rigging as lifting and transport consultant was involved in the ESSO Flexi Coker project in Rotterdam, various projects in South America, in the Middle East, and construction projects all over Europe. The design of piling equipment became a Euro-Rigging specialty. The Euro-Rigging engineers were involved in the Oosterschelde project and did the engineering for load-outs, transports and various offshore projects.
Wescon, a large mechanical construction company, forms the basis for a new engineering company in Rotterdam, named Euro-Rigging BV. ir. Bald Tieman as managing director starts the activities with in total 4 engineers. State of the art pocket calculators and mini computers are used.
